A Short History of the Early Church: Chapter 1
For readers who want a brief yet reliable introduction to the history of the early church as well as for those who are looking for a quick review of the period, this volume furnishes a concise overview of the key events, figures, controversies, and councils essential for a proper understanding of the first seven centuries of the Christian church.
Harry R. Boer provides background on the world into which the church was born, surveys the life of the church from the ministry of Jesus until 600 A.D., examines the effects of persecution and heresy on the church, explains the role of several key church leaders, and focuses specifically on the churchs ongoing struggle to formulate proper doctrines of the Trinity and of Christ. Each chapter is clearly outlined and concludes with several discussion questions that enhance the books use as a study guide for church groups or as a text in courses on early church history.
@PathofTorah4life Ancient Jews believed the teachings of the Torah that the Messiah would come and crush the head of the serpent and tabernacle among God's people. This Messiah was believed to be one with God. God spoke of himself in plurality.Let US make man in our own image. The concept of Messiah was confusing because the Prophet Isaiah & Psalm 22 spoke of a despised &rejected Messiah that would be a King forever and bare the sins of many . Problem solved Jesus will come again as King.

@PathofTorah4life Yes, I know those things have happened under the guise of Christianity, and it is profoundly tragic and sad. With that said, I grew up in NYC, and often came in contact with Hasidim and Orthodox Jews who say terrible things about Christians; but I do not judge a people or religion by the actions of these groups, just as I would not base my opinion of all Jews by what you've stated about Christianity.
I think we've both made clear where we stand. I see no need to debate further

@PathofTorah4life "He is ONe and shares His Glory with no mortal...He cannot be subjest to His own creation and dwell in a human body given to emissions and waste or gas. G-d is toatally Holy and to make Him a man is blasphemy and truly not a Jewish teaching. Those are the notions of the pagan nations that surrounded us"
Actually, the pagans believe as you do , for Islam teaches the very same thing you've stated here. In fact, it is Islam's main contention with Christianity.
God bless you.

@PathofTorah4life If you are referring to the Roman Catholic Church when you say "the Church," then I agree with you. The true Church has nothing to do with Rome, however. Regarding "those greek pagan writings," the authors of the New Testament to which you refer were not pagans at all, but rather were all...Jews. Even secular Bible scholars know this very basic historical fact, i.e. Bart Ehrman.
May God bless you and reveal to you the truth of His Son Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Another great resource is the book "Church History" by Eusebius of Caesarea, who lived from 263-339AD. This exhaustive work is still available to us today.
It is available free as an audiobook from LibriVox.org
