This is what happens to a city when OTC Derivatives become more profitable to manufacture than automobiles.

Detroit Mayor Dave Bing this month began his ambitious plan to demolish 3,000 abandoned houses this year and as many as 10,000 during his four-year term using Federal Money.

While the first round of planned demolitions spares the remaining houses on Detroit's infamous "ghost street," there appears to be a clear method to the controlled mayhem.

The Detroit Free Press reports today that the first 1,000 houses targeted for demolition were selected not because of their condition, but because they stand in high-crime areas.

  • You gotta admit though, that urban farm idea is pretty cool.

  • @ltlblugrl just a little concerned with relocating citizens. Maybe they should allow some to own the Farmland around them. Compensating eminent domain people with Land Equity.

  • @traynickel uhhhh, some farmland, yes but what about bringing the city back to life!!!!!! making it the once Auto city that it was.

  • @Nekosys Empire's end, nothing last forever. That's like saying let's make Egypt the once Pyramid city it was, by building more Pyramid's there.

  • ethnic cleansing? its a freakin' house, get over it.

  • The property owners should be allowed to make their own decisions whether or not their homes should be demolished, I don't understand why the city government has to get involved. This is a political move.

  • @zoomerlawns To be honest I've never heard of demolishing a half of a city. But due to so much blight that Detroit earns the title of being "a blighted city", i see why not to bulldoze it all BUT!!!, REBUILDING IT FROM GROUND UP, NOT FOR IT TO BECOME AMERICA'S "BACKYARD". That's what the Southern states are there for (hint: cotton, rice, corn, etc.). and props to people like Johnnie Bassett.

  • @nuen8 Yes! I agree!

  • @zoomerlawns look buddy, FUCK HORRACE, FUCK SHARPTON, FUCK JACKSON.

  • @nuen8 If your job is to cry about mistreatment and inequality, would you want to work yourself out of that job? It's easy for Horrace to cry and moan about the bad conditions, but what does he do to relieve those conditions? It's just like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, they do absolutely nothing FOR black people, but they are the 1st people on the scene when some form of percieved racism occurs.

  • @zoomerlawns What would the outcome be?

  • @kyoobaze there you go!!! somebody has common sense, farmland my ass.

  • Politicians are no different from bankers, the shame with this sheepherds following orders of demolition of thousands of houses when there are billions in the world who needs shelter. In America alone, there are millions homeless, why not just give this houses to this homeless, they will be happy about it and they can start and make a dead community alive again. Crazy policies creates crazy society. Beware those who wants the downfall of USA, it might just affect you as well
