Noon horn blasts in Ossining

The noon horn blasts atop Ossining Town Hall. Every day at 12 noon, this horn gives three blasts. It also serves as one of the numerous town fire sirens. In the beginning of the video, you can hear the bells chiming from the First Baptists Church. The horn doesn't blow until the 1:07 mark. For those of you who are wondering, this is a Gamewell Diaphone Type 2, which is a piston driven horn, and yes, it is extremely loud. I think you said in your description what I might have seen in my hometown. I've seen my hometown's diaphone, and I think it might be a type 2 Gamewell. I'll get a video of the horn and send it to you.

Man, that is one sick-sounding horn.  I think they'd better get Roto-Rooter up there to clean it out. But seriously, my old home town once had two of these diaphones for alerting the volunteers to respond to the station, (we had full-time county firefighters - but on ocassion, the full time crew had to go out of town). I wish I had recorded our old diaphones for posterity.
