after the success of Purple Rain The Original nucleus members Morris Day and Jesse Johnson of The Time left for Greener Pasture$, leaving the remaining members without a project. Prince gathered the moss and formed The Family in 1985. I Count their self titled debut one of my Favorite albums to come from the classic Paisley era and it pretty much sits in my top 20 of all time records. Funny thing is in their 20 year history they have only done 2 shows. Which is really a shame. Helping change that i invited the Fam to do show number 3 at the Roots 4th annual Twas The Night Before The Grammies jam session in LA on Feb 10th 2007. This was their rehearsal. Enjoy

  • That was a band that should have gotten more popularity back then. That :57 seconds of video from their 1985 hit was better than the most of the garbage this millenium

  • Are they back??? I'd love love love to hear more from them and I mean new stuff. "Screams Of Passion", "Desire", "River Run Dry" and of course "Nothing" (their original recording IS the definitive one) are classics to me.

  • I must say, the Family album was a classic. The segue of High Fashion into the ultra-funky Mutiny is too good for words and of course, what is for me, the definitive version of Nothing Compares. St Paul was a top vocalist. I wish they'd have had a second record but the St Paul solo albums were pretty good too.

  • I have the original vinyl of their debut!!! I bought it new in 85 and i still have it!!

  • MINNEAPOLIS!!! I like those catz back then!!!

  • i still have this album on cassette. i love it. completely under-rated classic. i would love to have it on CD, but since it has been long out of print, its really hard to find a good used copy without paying an arm and a leg. what ever happened with the Family 2.0? i never hear anything about it anymore.

  • where's the clap???? Jerome Damn! u kill me when ur late on the clap! (lol)

  • So what's the latest? Fans wanna know. Kitchens and garages are great, but when can we buy tickets to a show?

  • The Album was so regal for it's time. Esquite taste written all over it, great concept.

  • I'm just so hurt right now that was just the best song of all times

  • love love love it!!!!! keep it up guys!
