Speed is being joined by smarts as the big brands heat up their microwave oven lines. Many now have sensors that automate a number of cooking chores beyond popcorn. Manufacturers are also adding convection cooking and other features aimed at homeowners who want a second oven without having to remodel. You make a very good point. I've often thought the same thing myself when opening or closing a microwave door. I have yet to find one that doesn't close with a thud. The closest I came to doing that is with the ones that have a handle, and then you can control it somewhat, but still tedious and unnecessary.

The thing I hate most about microwaves is that the doors are always so loud to close! Hard to be quiet in the morning when other people are sleeping.

You sure it's ground beef or is it horse meat? You could have suggested at least one or two microwaves just to help us make a choice. Thanks for the video.

We have a over the range microwave at my parent's house. The only buttons that work are 1-5 and start. It's a Whirlpool and it was manufactured in 2005. I'll probably buy them a new one. I know which brand I'm NOT going to get...

Don't invest in an over-the-range microwave-hood combination. When I was a teenager, the Kenmore Elite Microwave Hood Combination quit after 5 year. The kitchen was remodeled in 2002, when the microwave hood combination was installed. Today's build quality on microwaves are poorly made in terms of longevity and durability.

I've never had one with such features aside defrosting and a varied power setting. Mine is pretty big tho. Fits lotsa stuff.

I know that soon I will be in the market for one, but I will just bring my mum along cause she always knows best. She has had the same micro for 18+ years and its still going strong.
