Remember the first time you had to speak in front of a large audience (aunts and uncles probably)? That feeling of exposure you've learned to avoid at all cost? Lars Sudmann must have had pretty much the opposite reaction as he turned out to be one of the most proficient and enthusiastic speakers in this country of ours.

Lars is a member of Toastmasters (a club of like-minded speech enthusiasts) and a frequent keynote speaker. Speaking as a skill, speaking as an inalienable part of true leadership. Eloquence as a way to make a good speaker into a great speaker.

Lars will be talking about talking. About the things that you're conscious off, but especially about the not-so-obvious things that you might be doing wrong... or right. And the test is always, even for himself: does it stick?

Recorded at the Antwerp Zoo on September 5th 2010.

About TEDx, x = independently organized event

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. (Subject to certain rules and regulations.)

  • I have to do a couple speeches in front of a lecture hall of 300+ students in a couple weeks and am dreading it. This talk as helped decrease the anxiety and has opened up new perspectives for me. I will practice lots.. I just don't want to sound like a robot mindlessly rehearsing lines.
