George carlin said it's a big F%$#*ing club and you and i aint in it.It seems that Ivan and Van were for a time well Van mabe still as figure head to his Int piano competition.But deff Earl had to carve his own indi path.Longevity in the club is the real test of one's level of comprmise or corruption it's no diff then being a made man in the Mafia what do you have to do kill someone that's what now rhey can bring you in trust you i think the people you mentioned were not fully willing 2 kill

As I said in another post, Ivan Davis was well equipped to inherit the mantle of Valdimir Horowitz. So for that matter was Byron Janis, yet both slipped into obscurity, and are known only by fellow pianists and aging connoisseurs.
And then there are the strange cases of Earl Wild and Van Cliburn. . .
All of these guys deserved far more acclaim and adoration than they received.
Don't look for logic in this world, you won't find it.
