  • Karate was popular in the 80's so tons of "karate" schools opened to grab market share. Same thing happened to TKD, hence creating McDojos. MMA is new and jujitsu has traditionally not been so popular until UFC, so this hasn't happened yet on the same scale. But give it time. Now that MMA is big, you'll start to see more jujitsu McDojos too. Doesn't make it a bad art, though. Just bad schools. Find an art YOU love and train at a GOOD school. Enough of all this bashing of different styles.

  • I realize after seeing this a few times, if you cant laugh at your Martial art than you shouldn't be practicing it. LOL this shit is pretty funny, and IM A KARATE GUY WHO OWNS A SCHOOL. HAHA! I still love Karate...

  • @DrMBA28 the current system of BJJ competition prevents BJJ mcdojo's

  • y u no available on MOBILE?

  • @mudkipzuzu Oh yes I agree completely! I am an MMA fighter but have studied 2 forms of karate as well and it does have its advantages, but there aren't many. I also agree that Kyokushin is on of the most effective, but I have a problem with the now head punches rule and no ground fighting, as well as weapon disarms (wich are also absent in MMA). I do believe you should study a multitude of styles, but the truth is, some styles are very inferior.

  • @tywainwright1 yeah true, but they started out from it, and gsp still uses some kyokushin in his fighting game, kyokushin is still a very well accepted style in the mma, its different from traditional martial arts, even if it is one, because it trains in full contact and has been proven to be effective. and the reason they do other things is because it doesn't hurt to understand the advantages of other techniques. just my opinion.

  • @mudkipzuzu No, but they do other things besides karate. Karate is such a small part of their game. GSP doesn't even train it anymore.

  • @DrMBA28 Even without the mcdojoization, some arts are just inferior.

  • So true. I wouldn't want to train in a style I have no interest in, no matter how effective it is. But each style has something to offer.

  • @DrMBA28 im afraid you're already right, there are 3 mma mcdojos within a 10 mile radius already here.

  • Do your research before joining a dojo. Are there swarms of kids? Lots of fat bodies? Absolutely blood-free floors? You might want to pass.

  • lyoto machida? gsp? chuck liddell? are they bad fighters? HMMM?????
