This video is about Catholic Relief providing help to the three countries hit by the tsunami in 2004. India, Sri Lanka and Indonesia were hit the hardest. It focused primarily on emergency response, but then transitioned into temporary shelters, as well as water and sanitation resources. It then transitions according to the needs of the people into distribution of food items, then to permanent structures like water systems, bridges hospitals and schools. It continued until 2008, where upon there was stability in the region. In Northern Sumatra, there was the most devastation and hard hit because the water hit from three directions. Mitigation strategies for the future involved building houses higher up to avoid flooding. CRS undertook the largest recovery response and raised one million dollars a day, to 204 million dollars.
