  • Before he died, Max Roach had completed a major portion of an autobiography manuscript with the great writer Amiri Baraka. They had differences over whether it was complete. However, the information is somewhere waiting to be published. I can hardly wait. Max Roach was one of the greatest musical artists America has produced. His political integrity matched his artistic integrity.

  • Max seemed like such a gentleman... and of course, a really pioneering drummer.

    You know, his description of high taxation shows how it has a deleterious effect on jobs. You get a sense of the unintended consequences: High taxes targeting the club owner ends up putting the little guy (the musicians) out of work.
