Part 1: a first-look at the Hitec Spectra 2.4GHz AFHSS spread spectrum system from Hitec.
This video gives a quick overview and asks why Hitec's system only uses about half of the available 2.4GHz band, while others such as Futaba FASST use the entire band.
See part 2 for a demonstration of the "scan mode" and how it can effectively sidestep other signals on the 2.4GHz band, such as video transmitters. This might make the system perfect for those who enjoy FPV flying.
It's the French. France has additional restrictions on the power and frequency ranges that 2.4GHz systems can use. That's why Hitec uses the left area of band as described in the video.

because futaba fasst is damn expensive.

I always enjoy your videos, they are very good scientific reviews, but not so techy that I can't understand what you're saying.

First of all i want to thank you for the Video. Second, You say you can't understand why Hitec...??!? The same reazon for you see one car sells more suddently and the other don't. If you own everything, and its easier for you, or more convinient or people start to understand what is happening then you promot one company that you own to another that yo also own!!!??
Its time to weak up and not be so narrow minded!!

@kangsterizer meant to type "to my knowledge" :P

from my knowledge, while FHSS resists interferences better and degrades better than DSSS, it also allows less models at the same time before the signal is interfered.
using only a part of the band probably give them an average 1/3 more models in the air at the same time (?)

It's the MetaGeek WiSpy. There's a review of it on the RCModelReviews website.

Hi What Spectrum Analyzer are you using there ?

The other half of the band is for transmitting data from the airplane back to the transmitter

The latency of the module/receiver itself appears quite low but I note that the Aurora 9 radio itself seems to have significant latency. Unfortunately I don't have one available to test at this time and although they're good value, they're still a bit spendy for this reviewer's meager budget.
