No question Mr. Telhami is a sharp political analyst, but I must disagree that bold leadership can substitute for fundamental and moral issues in dispute. The best example is the refugees issue. It was not for Arafat or any other charismatic leader to compromise it in the name of any reconciliatory future. This is by the way has nothing to do with public opinion which leaders actions seem to reflect, but rather a moral commitment that simply can not be compromised, can only be remedied at best.
