  • How did you learn all this?

  • I basically learned it by ear. I have sheet music for it but it is in the Key of F which does not sound good on that particular dulcimer and it was melody only. All the Embellishments I do in this version are all stuff I experimented with and this is what came out. Its amazing what you can do with a Hammered Dulcimer

  • Very beautiful!

  • Thank you very much. This is one of my favorite Hymns.

  • lovely !

  • Thanks!

  • Excellent Job!

  • Both Alleluia sing to jesus and Love Divine have the same tune. This always confused me so I looked it up:) It's called Hyfrydol.

Hyfrydol has been used as a setting for William Chatterton Dix's hymn Alleluia! Sing to Jesus!, Charles Wesley's Love Divine, All Loves Excelling, I Will Sing the Wondrous Story, and Come Thou Long-Expected Jesus, as well as many other hymns from a variety of faith traditions.

  • I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. Today (October 23), I played this as the Opening Hymn. It is #631 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship. And to all denominations: If Song of Solomon 4:8-5:1 is your Scripture of the Day, this is a good hymn to compliment it.

  • @klaniece no it is the tune used for love divine in catholic churches

  • "Catholic Church hymn"? It was written by a Protestant! Though I must say, I admire the ecumenism of that concept, if it's really sung in the RCC too. Separated brethren today, who knows what tomorrow?

  • I think this is alleluia sing to jesus not love divine but still beautiful though:)

  • It's actually a hymn by Charles Wesley, and it is called Love Divine, All Loves Excelling StCopiaz

  • Beautiful playing! Who made this dulcimer? It has a very warm mellow sound. I am thinking of buying one. Which one do you recommend?

  • Yes, as an Anglican who plays regularly I can say from experience that not all RC churches have given in fully to the Vatican II Hippy music.

Love this hymn, very well done!

  • This is as Protestant as it gets, but I'm glad Catholics are now including it with their mass. Maybe they could trade the Pope in for a few more Anglican/Methodist/Presbyterian hymns!! lol. Yes, I'm a recovering Catholic, before you bite my head off.
