This is a review of the new Manly 180 Eyeshadow Palette from Beauties Factory
www.bf-beauty.com

UPDATE 3/31/11: Okay so apparently Manly has finally re-released the 180 (and last I checked bf-beauty was selling it). Now the palette is built like the 120 except instead of 2 layers of trays they give you 3 layers of trays - no more flimsy sliders. The only problem is that while fixing the packaging flaws they also decided to adjust the colors to make the palette more marketable to people who don't like bright colors. The reason I loved the original 180 so much is because it had LOTS of bright colors. Well not everybody shares my tastes and Manly apparently has taken this into consideration so the new 180 contains 120 shadows (2 trays) of super vibrant colors and 1 Tray of 60 neutral colors. I guess in an attempt to sell these palettes to people with more toned down tastes. Frankly as much as I hated those sliders I liked the color options in the original better, but that's just me, a lot of people may prefer the new 180 better because of this change. You can still find the original 180 that I have with the colors and crappy sliders from certain ebay sellers. They're basically, I believe, just pushing the left over stock they have of the original 180s. But as I mentioned below I have no clue how reliable these sellers are and you'll have to asses the risk for yourself. Poor MissJupiterWheels (her story in the comments of this video) apparently had quite a hassle with one seller so please be careful who you choose to buy from.

UPDATE 4/15/10: Apparently the reason the 180 disappeared is because the makers (Manley) pulled it off the market because there were too many instances of the shadows breaking in shipping because of the way the casing was designed. Which I have to agree the sliders and casing were the worst part of the 180 and my first one didn't make it through the mail alive. The one seen in this video was my replacement. Apparently once they fix the design flaw of the casing they'll start selling 180's again but I have no idea how long that will take them so please don't ask me. Just keep an eye open.

UPDATE 12/9/09: Right now the link above is no longer offering the 180 I don't know if it was limited edition and I don't know if maybe they're just temporarily out of stock - keep in mind it is fast approaching the holidays so that could be a reason. It could be that it is now discontinued - I'm not certain - I don't work for BF-Beauty or the distributor who makes these palettes so I have no idea why they are becoming scarce. Right now you're guess is as good as mine. My only suggestion is to try finding one on ebay but fare warning there weren't many when I checked and I have no idea what their sellers are like, plus they seem a little higher in price now. You can also try googling "180 eyeshadow palette" but once again - I have no clue what those sellers are like. You'll have to asses the risks for yourself.

NOTE: The contest I mentioned where I would give away a palette has already taken placed and is closed. CONTEST CLOSED!!! Check the videos I uploaded after this one to see who the winner was.

  • I ordered one, and the colours are so chalky..I dont like it:(

  • @TheMzSarita mine felt pretty soft and nice. Compared to the 120 it seemed that they improved the formula, which seemed okay enough before but perhaps they made it too soft because the 180 shadows seem a bit on the fragile side.

  • Did you receive yours in a box that said, "Manley® Blusher Eye shadow PROFESSIONAL COSMETICS", with a corner design that looks like the Windows® logo of wavy rectangles in different colors, making up a kind of right triangle? The palette itself has the same wording as the box-top, heat-stamped. I also found it odd that there was a hinge already broken, but I couldn't find the part, which is odd if it had never been opened before. <:-/

I wish BF still had the old 1, or I'd have ordered from them.

  • @MissJupiterWheels All I have left is the plastic palette box "Manly Blusher Eye Shadow Professional Cosmetics" on the top & there's 2 windows on the left & right to see the shadows through. It doesn't surprise me that 1 of the hinges would break in shipping that's why they discontinued this particular model of the palette - packaging was horrible for shipping purposes. I'm sorry to hear that seller gave you such a ridiculous amount of trouble it's a shame bf doesn't carry the originals anymore.
