Sammy Hagar had to endure so many years of shit for taking the place of Dave in VH, and we can see clearly that it wasn't fair. Sammy sings way better than Dave and now that they're in their (well...) more experienced days, Sammy wins in every category: he sings better, has a better band, has better songs, is more energetic on stage.
Sorry Dave. Maybe the wait was too long - maybe it's too late for an out-of-shape former rock star.
