Mary-Louise Parker is a vampire. She has not aged.

This is one of my favourite scenes in the whole film, I hope their chemistry was as good off screen.

This movie scene is fricking hilarious. Especially the part at the end "I have to say I believe Idgie's been a bad influence on you".and she answers "I agree". I am laughing SO MUCH!!!!!!!!

Well, I honestly don't think the book "outgay"s the movie much (yeah, I watched the movie first). Like you said, Ruth's sexuality is ambiguous in the movie. You know the actresses are SHOWING you how they love each other contrary to the book TELLS you outright by giving your their verbal exchanges or interior monologues. What I love about the movie is everyone gets to see what they want to see. We can pick up subtleties and certain things are left to imagination. It's very sexy.

It's such a shame, (having read the book) to realise just how much the film played down - almost entirely - their lesbian relationship, although the author herself didn't seem too bothered and was just grateful that it was made into a film at all. I suppose the film makers wanted to reach as broad an audience as possible with a more subtle approach and Idgie was undoubtedly gay although Ruth's sexuality remained very ambiguous.

I always enjoy a film more if I know that the principal characters had a genuinely good relationship off screen, so it's nice to hear that, I hope it's true.

I think that she may have botox to 'thank' although she has a remarkably motionless face and seems to rely on using her eyes to express her emotions which means fewer wrinkles developing.
Either that... or she has a portrait in her attic of a hideously gnarled, aged, 'gargoylesque' version of how she would actually look - had she not sold her soul to the devil! (a la 'Dorian Gray')
Judging by her appearanc in 'Weeds', she certainly seems to have a 'Peter Pan' quality about her.

I think so, if I remembered right, read it in Vogue that they finished off each other's sentences and cooked for each other on set and were the greatest fans of each other (at least back then).
