The problem with flying cars is that traffic control becomes air traffic control. You've probably heard that air traffic control is an extremely difficult an stressful job, even when performed by a team of well trained people, and when they only need to manage a few dozen planes at a time. Imagine how much more complicated it would be with a few hundred thousand planes at the same time.

There will NEVER be flying cars, and it has nothing to do with the technology of the cars.

Until this kind of hybrid (flying) vehicles do not provide the ability of a VTOL they are practically useless as far as general consumers are concerned. So, don't bother ...
