It's only wrong for a 501(3)c to attack Fox News because it's making political commentary/actions if ... wait for it... Fox News is a political body and/or part of a political party. If Fox News were an independent news source, and actually "Fair and Balanced" like they claim they are, then Media Matters has every right to attack them. You can't have your cake and eat it, too!

MMA is a politically progressive media group. Liberal Progressive movement grew out of social activism, Naderite and populist left political movements w/ civil rights, GLBT (Gay rights), feminist & environmental movements. This exists as political, activist, & media organizations ranging in outlook from centrism (ex: Reform Party of the United States of America) to left-liberalism to social democracy (like the Green Party) & sometimes democratic socialism (like the Socialist Party USA).

Excellent point! It is IMPOSSIBLE for Media Matters to libel or slander Fox News, since all that MMA does is post clips and comment on the lies, misrepresentations, one-sided biased reports, con-jobs, and other antics Fox News goes through in trying to paint all liberals as wrong on every issue and in trying to gin up the support of bat-shit crazy people like Michele Bachmann and power-obsessed undemocratic politicians like Wisconsin Governor Walker. Tax-exempt status or not, if MM4A were wrong, FNC would file a libel suit and win. They don't because they would lose. Fox knows that.

Maybe MM4A could shift it's focus against other targets, but they are not wrong about FNC.
