Steam locomotive 2-8-0 No. 3716 conducted a handful of Christmas runs in Summerland, BC over
December 19th-20th weekend. The trips were a complete success and a good time was had by all. Make sure to check out the Kettle Valley Steam Railway for yourself! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  • Neptune Terminals in North Vancouver if I am not mistaken... was trucked up back in October. They had it fired up while we were there too

  • Their reasoning was that Canada exchanged a lot of freight traffic with the united states and that most of the railway locomotive shops were subsideries of us companies.

    Just a quick question - what was the reasoning behind canada's decision to follow the US practice of locomotives / railway design etc?

    I'm from Australia and while all our states had very different railways, we all closely followed British practice (at least until the 1960s), as did New Zealand, South Africa, India (until independence) and many other once-dominions of the British empire.

    I assumed that being a part of the British empire, Canada would've followed suit?
