Obama Rally 5/23/08 Broward, Florida

Spam Allstars opened for Barack rally at the BankAtlantic Center. Attendance was estimated at 20,000!

I'm the guy that got to announce him to the crowd, after my band played and right before he took the stage. I told my friend Chad how easy my camera is to use to record video, and he took at least 5 short movies before it came time for me to announce Senator Obama. HOWEVER... that didn't stop him from screwing up the first 7 seconds or so after I started speaking! He missed the entire intro but the last two words!!!!

The script, as it was dictated to me from the really really super nice guys on the campaign staff (Alan and Mike!) was like this:

"the 'Yes we can' video will play,
then bruce's song 'the Rising' for 5 seconds,
then you announce Barack"

So, it all went according to plan and what I said was - in my cheesiest arena announcer voice:

"SOUTH FLORIDDDDDA
IT'S TIME TO GIVE IT UP FOR OUR NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES!!!!

SENATOR........"
(and that's where the video begins with me saying 'Barack Obama'...)

Then Barack came out and shook hands all round the stage before jumping up on stage. It takes a good minute or so before he's in the frame...

I'M TRYING TO FIND ANY VIDEO THAT HAS THE FULL INTRODUCTION. Think about my grandkids, people!

I'll link the video that has Barack picking up where this leaves off: he gives shout-outs to the Dem Party officials that helped him, then the band that played before us (Miami Pan Symphony) and then he says

"I'd like to thank DJ Spam and the Spam Allstars!" and looks right over at us and smiles...
