This short video depicts the creation of a new martial arts dojo in Christchurch, New Zealand, in the aftermath of the February 22 (2011) earth quake. The dojo's name is Chuseikan, which means the "Hall of Loyalty". It was built by Alex Bennett to provide a venue for the study of Japanese martial arts (kendo, iaido, naginata etc.) and cultural exchange.

  • Amazing! Congratulations. It looks like a wonderful dojo. I hope to train there some day

  • @jaysonRchaplin See you there !

  • Wow, I'm not sure if we have any drawings actually. We commissioned a specialist floor company to intall it. It is very springy, and is fantastic to train on! It makes you want to lunge into an attack. It is the same basic specifications as a dance floor .

  • Would you kindly provide some drawings about the fabrication of this beautiful wood floor? Sure what I wanna find out is for kendo traiing but not any ordinary wood floor for home. Thanks in advance.
