Nebulus C64 longplay Part 1/2

Here's a longplay of another one of my favourite C64 game. This game is a real classic and has awesome graphics for its time.

It is a great game, it's one of the very first C64 games I played, it was part of a collection of games I got with my C64 :)

Wow! What a stupid game :D The only great thing about it is the rotating tower effect.

I enjoyed it a lot back then, one of the games I had an original copy of in the 80s... it was pretty impressive back then.

It does have many cheap deaths, though... but many games had that back then.

You shouldn't take my comment personally.

I don't see much gameplay and value in the game. It looks too simple. And there isn't much going on. I haven't played it and I agree that I might be wrong.

I like ancient games and I often look up youtube for such games to draw an inspiration from them. When I compare that game to games like the Mr. Do series, I find that one doesn't offer anything.

The rotating tower is nice but is that all the game can offer?

Well, by modern standards, it might not be that great... but I still say the gameplay is a lot of fun... it does depend quite a bit on memorization, as there are some cheap deaths, but getting just a bit further every time was part of the fun for me.

You have to learn a lot of patterns, memorize the correct path to the top of each tower, etc.

It's very challenging and a lot of fun.

I met the author John Phillips at a computer show and he explained how he got the rotation of the towers perfect, classy programmer that one!

There was hardly every a game based on such a good idea (climbing up a tower beside lots of traps).

I played this game when I was 12 years old. Man that's already a so long time.

I don't agree with either of you :P It's not a stupid game, as Tetris is a better game than any Modern Warfare, to name just one. And it's just pieces falling. Nebulus is a fun game with a nice tower effect, but its flaws have nothing to do with "only being in a tower", but with the kind of trial-and-error gameplay.

hewson classic runs 6mhz with external 1-4mb ram for sim coupe from zx spectrum version...

Very hard to judge games now than back in the day
