I was quite surprised that this remarkable and famous piece from DCD doesn´t have an appropriate video. So I decided to make my own. But still I was looking for the right motives, for something medieval and at the same time something artistic valuable. Finally after a longer time I´ve met my good old friend Norbert Judt, a painter, whose works I´ve always adored and appreciated to decor my walls. He gave me link to his new collection and I was astonished. The paintings were exactly what I´ve been looking for Saltarello. So it was an honour and pleasure for me to create the slide show for one of my most favourite bands and at the same time to make a little propaganda for Norberts masterpieces.
You can find his collection under http://www.judt.sk/

as i recognized, there might be interest in purchasing norberts paintings. yes, he still sells. but he doesn´t speak english, therefore he asked me for mediating. if you are interested in his paintings, you may send me a message :)

not only medievel, saltarello was a typical folk dance in rural areas of central Italy, when there was no disco young people used to approach dancing saltarello, and well known also now, but of course DCD made an incredibly charming version, my grandma would not recognize this as a saltarello :-) .

  • Very nice compilation. What a wonderful tribute to such a great song : )

  • 16 people are morons

  • one of my faves , dam these youtube adds

  • nice video!

if i am not mistaken myself this is an anonymus medieval piece of the 14th century...

of course Dead Can dance made it even more famous!

  • The soundtrack of the film "Ripley's Game", with John Malkovich, derives heavily from this medieval dance.

  • This song always makes me think of the painting Garden of Delights by Hieronymus Bosch.
