  • I like Jayson Werth and the Nationals are lucky to have him. He is a good player and I believe he will do well in the years to come.

  • @cremeofthereich I'm sorry it was 3-5 with two doubles and a home run.

  • @cremeofthereich I don't think it will get to be that extreme. Again, every player goes through slumps from time to time. Some are longer and worse than others. Unfortunately for Werth, this was a long and painful one. However, he came to life today when he went 2-4 with a HR, 2B, 2 RBIs, and a run. He was on life support before but he never flat-lined. Hopefully for his sake and the sake of my Nats, he has more games like today.

  • @CHolmesJ14 Fair enough but I think you are easing gently into the inevitable. Research the George Foster history with the Mets back in the 80's. That is your worst nightmare and something tells me Werth will probably go that route.

  • @cremeofthereich Well I have openly said that he was not worth the money. Quite honestly, I don't think any athlete is worth that kind of money whether it be Jayson Werth or Cal Ripken Jr. I will give it a couple seasons before I turn on him. Again, I'm not going to justify a 7 year career on the Nationals with a 1 month slump. As for yesterday's game, Werth was disappointing but it's hard to be mad at him with Sean "Gasoline" Burnett ruining everything.

  • @CHolmesJ14 CTD / My question to you is how long are you willing to sit there and tolerate this guy? Right now, Nats fans' frustration is muted by their hope that this is all not out of line with Werth's history as a slow "starter." My instincts tell me otherwise. I don't think the Nats will ever get value for the money they threw at this guy.

  • @CHolmesJ14 This is deeper than anything I've seen on what appears to be a psychological level. Werth is probably at the point where he doesn't even make eye contact with anyone, his fragile little ego might just have gone to the point of no return. He is playing in the #1 cuthroat town DC where he will find no mercy. Yesterday, yet anothre little infield tapper during a critical moment. Yet another sign to DC baseball fans that the team is really cursed. Seven years of this would be a disaster.

  • @cremeofthereich I mean let's be honest. I see what you are saying and respect what you are saying but I mean look at Michael Vick in the 2009-2010 football season. He was worthless and hardly did anything. But the 2010-2011 he was playing out of his mind. I know the circumstances are different but the concept is the same, You don't just count out a player because of a few bad performances and pass it off as "instinct." Just wait it out and see what happens.

  • @cremeofthereich Time will tell.

  • @CHolmesJ14 You "love having Werth on the team"????? Obviously, you still don't get the extent to which this fraud is gonna be a dead weight anchor against your team for years to come. Just take a serious look at this guy. It's not gonna get better. If you had any baseball instincts you would see it. This aint no slump.
