This video is of me showing you how to make a no sew rice sock to help ease pain in labor. Rice socks can be heated in the microwave for a couple minutes or if you do not own a microwave, in the dryer. You can also freeze the rice sock for 2 hours to use as a cold pack. The "fuzzy sock" acts as your cover for your rice sock and you can wash this part to insure that your rice sock is clean for use. Additionally as these are inexpensive to make, you might consider making one for each client and allowing them to keep it. Rice socks are very helpful during labor if the mother is experiencing back labor. Do NOT place heated sock onto uncovered skin and NEVER use on clients who have been numbed with pain medication.

  • If you tie the knot off nearing te top more, you can also put the rice evenly through the sock and wrap it around your neck.

  • Great video! Thank you!

  • @MandeeTheGreat Thank you hun. Unfortunately I have to wait till the next class comes along. I have some recent back issues and hubby and I feel I need to address that before continuing down this path. I'm still going to do it though! Just not at the moment. :(
