I can't think of a more compelling way to illustrate the human cost of war than work like this, so I don't understand why people are so opposed to it.

Seems like you guys really don't give a crap about the right or wrong of the invasion. Or maybe you think a painting is worth more than a life. I think "cashing in" says it all.

I am sure you don't drive a car, use plastic, or breath air.

"No one will say what needs to be said: that "Baghdad Journal" is repugnant and that any artist who identifies himself with the Iraq war and occupation deserves to be and will be held in contempt, as an apologist for war crimes."

From Clare Hurley, "The New York art world's apology for the Iraq war" World Socialist Web Site, 13 June 2005.

Well, I would have to say that censorship of art is an a worse crime than making images of an unpopular war.

No is talking about censoring anything here. 1 million Iraqis and 4,000 Americans have died with tens of thousands more maimed for life. Those at the top who planned the war are war criminals. Those willingly promoted the war in the press are their accomplices. Go read this man's "Baghdad Journal"please.

I have a belief that whatever people write, paint or say does not really matter regarding this war. Bush doesn't listen to anyone, wasn't voted in office either time, so I find blaming Steve for this war really stretching it.

He did not have to publish what he did. The war could only have happened with a thousand lies and deceptions of the American people.

Propagandists, too, must be held accountable in the proportion to which they helped -- The New York Times and this "combat artist" included. The Nazi journalists were in the Nuremberg Trials.

If Bush and Cheney must be brought to trial -- and they must -- then so must all their helpers, large and small.

Once again, please look carefully at "Baghdad Journal."

A combat artist is a card carrying member of the military. This guy is just cashing in on the pain and death of others.
