does everyone have to get one if they go to police academy? cox i am planning to go after i get my CJS degree. but i don't think i like to be tasered.

the logic behind being tasered is to know how it feels so you do not abuse the power when you carry one in the feild, obviously being shot causes serious physical harm that's why they don't do the same thing with guns. Its not a power trip, its actually the exact opposite, the purpose is to avoid police brutality not encourage it. do some research before you post dumb comments.

@atouchofmagic1988, think of a charlie horse where its pain to the point you cant move.... now times that by 10 & add in your whole body being imobile with that pain. Like cant move at all & your body tightens up.....

I asked that same question at the police department. Apparently electricity is "lazy" and the current from the taser goes from on prong to the other. Thus, not spreading all over the body, but making a straight line of electrical current. This is also why the taser isn't that effective if the officer doesn't hit the perk in the chest or back.
