Competitive Cyclist's review of the Zipp Sub-9 Lenticular Disc Wheel. The first wheel ever to show positive drag in a wind tunnel. At 15 degrees of yaw the Zipp Sub 9 Disc showed a -80g drag reading creating lift rather than making drag.

  • @projectdurden grams of bike weight and grams of drag are different

  • 80 grams? too bad most triathletes have 80 grams of crap they don't need on their bikes or in their stomach!

  • 0"17 "negative drag (sex face)" LMFAO i don't even know how i got to this video BUT THAT IS FUNNY AS HELL LOL

  • @Akselseifert you can't make a wing with negative gravity! that would let you fly! oh. wait.

  • Dude knows his wheel

  • @Akselseifert

Not so, every sailor know that it is possible to create a force which acts(to an extent) against the wind. ie negative drag. They are only claiming that it will give some forward force at certain limited angles of wind. This is perfectly possible. In fairness I have no data about this particular wheel, only that the principle is sound.

  • @ProLiteNews

It's no coincidence that you're a competitor and you have nothing but negative things to say about this product. Do you see Zipp spamming your videos? Nope, they don't even know who you guys are.

  • @Akselseifert Correct. This is a ridiculous claim. If they are measuring negative wind resistance, their machine is wrong or their testing method is wrong.

There is merit in the dimpled surface approach, but beyond this, you won't see aerodynamic resistance go below zero. Physics people!

Creates lift?! Do you guys even KNOW how lift works? If it was creating lift, it would simply be pulling the sides of the wheel apart. And probably gently at that. Not where I would want my energy going.

  • tubular sucks make god damn clincher disk

  • You can't make a wheel with negative wind resistance? That would make an eternity machine, which the physical laws forbid!!!!
