This is the tribute to Dad. He was the sole survivor of his crew when he
was shot down in a Wellington bomber on a 329 aircraft raid over Essen in
Germany on the night of 16/17 September 1942 . At the time he was an
instructor and had completed three tours of duty, and had 89 missions
completed.
This night, his 90th mission over enemy territory, he was never to return
until the end of the war.
60 years to the day afterwards, I was lucky enough to take his medals for a
special flight - the Last Raid. I shot the vision in 2002 and did a special
recut this year.
He was the inspiration for me to learn to fly.
