Well on June 7, 1775 The United Colonies of America became the United States of America.
June 7, 1939 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth visited the U.S. being the first English monarchs to do so.
But I think the real reason is because in 1983 A. Gilmore & P. Kilmartin discovered asteroid #3152!
