All Offensive PSI was all ways called PK, but the translation of EarthBound made a screwup. Ness and Lucas in SSBB always call out their Offensive PSI attacks "PK (Freeze,Flash,Fire & Thunder).

Seriously though, just like EB there's two versions of the rom. One has the antipiracy methods crippled. You got the one that didn't have them crippled and fell afoul of the Antipiracy.

how come on earthbound the phychic attacks are called "psi" but on every thing else it's "PK"???

PK is probably the Japanese translation.
Here, the people who did the translation probably needed the room.

When I was using a ROM to play this game about 8 years ago, the entrance to this cave is where the ROM quit on me with a "This is illegal" message from NOA.

On Ebay, Mother NES, not famicom, was on there for $120. Maybe by picture quality, it WAS from an NES.

It was never released for the NES. It must be illegal. Starmen dot net warns against that all the time.
