In the past few years, Nepal's Gay Lesbian and Transgender community's legislative progress has been making news around the world.

Yet, social norms have been slow to change and a strong social stigma remains attached to third gender people.

The Blue Diamond Society, the only notable organization that works for GLBT rights in Nepal, has been striving to bring acceptance in society and support third gender people.

In this series of podcasts, I speak to some of the people at Blue Diamond Society about their lives and their hopes.

  • Sunil Babu Pant, its nice that being a eunuch, you've achieved so much more than many men do. It's said in Ramayana that when Ram was going on exiled he gave the third genders the boon that one day they will rule the world. You're living that boon.

  • All my Nepal friends and girlfriends I wish you good luck.

  • People have a right from their birth to be and express them selves the way they want to - its every human being right. If society having problem with it it should not consider it self a democratic nation - same goes for America. What part of free creativity and expression dose not todays society understand? Its so simple. Get rid of outdated middle age standard. Its new age, new dawn. Society will change until creative freedom and expression will be consider as norm not "old days" standards.

  • I don't know why but our country is still lacking the knowledge that every human being in this earth has a right of doing everything except for harming themselves and others. People should analyze and change their perception otherwise we cannot differentiate between human being and a wild animal. As a part of a good Nepalese citizen i hope that the things gonna change in the future. Think positive and live positive. Love my lovely Nepal

  • i am in full support of transgender rights in nepal............may nepal be a free country!!!!!!! jai nepal!
