High Quality - The SEPTA gel train with WCRR 1803 for power died near Doylestown and the gel train with SEPTA 61 was sent to rescue it. However, time ran out before they could make it back to Wayne Electric so the normally noturnal SEPTA gel trains spent the morning in Lansdale before heading home before noon. The two cab units were FA 615 and F7 622. October 16 2008

  • Never mind my previous comment! Just read the description! So, the cab units are used for... Power cars, or for reverse moves?

  • On SEPTA they once had gel dispensing equipment installed but now that job is done by equipment on the flat car, so they are just cab cars. 1803 was the power on one of the gel trains.

  • gel trains?

  • During the fall, SEPTA runs washer/gel trains that use high pressure water spray to clean slippery leaf debris and oil off the rail head and dispense a traction-increasing gel to help their sander-less MU fleet get a grip.

  • thanks man i understand what these trains are ,

are there any MOW trains from septa?

  • Go to my videos and search MOW, you will find ballast trains, rail trains, rail scrubbers and others.

  • can FA 615 and the F7 622 run by themsevles or were there engines removed & if so they are just used as cab cars for reverse moves with the other units pushing them right?...great vid!!!

  • Is the lead locomotive powered my Detroit diesel ? Reason being ...way back in the early 90's Republic locomotive entered the power market. With Detroit diesel powered locomotives. Doesn't sound like either EMD,GE or Alco. What it does sound like is a Detroit and it sounds pretty damn good.

  • SEPTA does a lot of stuff that we don't know about and that's one of the cool things about them. They have a lot of VERY HEAVY equipment that we rarely see. I love SEPTA.

  • whats this Gel train used for I have seen it in videos and heard what is sounds like, but what is it used for?

  • I nver knew that SEPTA pulls freights

  • Never knew about these gel trains... What are those two cab units and the alco ?803 used for?

  • great video mate by avonrailfan from the uk

  • I can't believe they converted two LIRR power cars into MOW cars...sheesh...and I thought they couldn't get any more downgraded/derated...
