  • the next Sumi Jo? hahah

  • @lauralisk I'll send you then ...

  • awesome! unbelievable how a korean can sing this masterpiece, she is that good.

  • @lauralisk I have the piece of this mutya ng pasig,, I can send it to you through e-mail if you want. thanks!

  • I beg to disagree. There are a lot of Filipino classical singers out there who sing this kumintang (not "kundiman!") Filipinos will still win singing this song over other foreign singers. It may be a fact that Miss Yi gave an excellent rendition of this song but nothing compares to a Filipina artist who understands the story behind the lyrics of this tragic song. It's just something different and special. (I'm speaking as a Filipina classical artist who studies in Paris as of now and ...

  • We should adopt Kyun Young Yi. Elevate the kundiman materials to world music status.

  • goerizal, i know conching rosal's rendition is stll the gold standard. but she's gone. if the filipina pop divas sing this it would be awful. this requires operatic voice. there's nobody in the current firmament who can sing this. it should and must be taken up by international divas of the opera world.

  • dquibs2: it is only too true sadly that we have a lot to be ashamed of regarding the philippines, particularly our politicians but if you will look through you tube you can see that other filipino singers had done this song and quite well at that, not the least of which is conching rosal.

  • A lovely kundiman (def: dramatic serenade) sung in magnificent opulence by this little known lyric soprano. One can recognise her creamy timbre, overindulgent rubato and haunting pianissimo. The final high f was spine-chilling.

  • This is a romantic Filipino Aria. It goes up there with Donezetti, Rossini, the great italian opera composers. But nobody, not one Filipina Diva sings it. I admire this Korean artist. Shame on us.

I'm afraid this song will go international. If Metropolitan Opera gets wind of this, they'll own it. Natalie Dessay, or Renee Flemming can take a crack at it. I hope.
