Because it almost never occurs naturally. You blame humans for forcing a genetic abnormality that leads to a miserable life. Theres a reason Tigers and Lions aren't naturally inclined to mate. Don't be a dumbfuck.

And for those that say ligers are SLOW, spend TWO SECONDS googling, and you can see that ligers are the second fastest carnivores in the world. The fastest liger has been clocked at 47mph, 2mph faster than tigers nearly 10mph more than the fastest lions thanks to having a REALLY long gate and heavy muscle mass. The only downside is they tire quickly.

And while its not WHY they are large, Ligers do have hybrid vigor and don't carry over any of the recessive genetic problems from either parent.

A liger is no more unhealthy than a mule, which is also a crossing of two very similar species. They reproduce naturally sometimes when you stick tigers and lions in the same enclosure, and there is no special genetic modification going on here. They don't reproduce in the wild because last I checked the open plains of Africa aren't particularly close to the jungles of SE Asia.

Yeah, and that reason they don't breed is called geography and thousands of miles of distance separating their habitats, you dumbfuck.

When you put tigers and lions together, sometimes they screw and make babies. Do you imagine that they are somehow forcing lions to dump their loads in tigers?

And the oldest liger is now 25 years old, and ligers have no unique health issues.

Chimeras are the product of splicing the DNA of creatures that naturally can't breed together and can only be possible through genetic engineering. The liger is a hybrid of two species within the same genus and can breed naturally without human interference.
