2- Men differentiate themselves from animals and other primates in their ability to reason and think. @dave5socrates Personally, I don't give a flying fuck what it is or isnt called. I'm not some crazy super patriot america-is-the-best-type. In fact, as a slight majority of us are these days, I'm a pretty liberal thinker who looks down on those that would believe in the country in such an arrogant naive way. Basically what I'm saying is all histories and legitimacies aside, different culturs have different ways of doing different things, and anybody who is worth anything accepts that. grow up.

Look as I'm assuming you're British (ill admit wrongfulness if you're not) everybody can obviously see that you don't actually care what its called, and that its a matter of your arogance. Your just pulling the whole "it was invented in my country so our name is the only real one and american's call it something else so we can use it as an excuse to hate."

That's wonderful that you've learnt to read and looked up the history of why people call our game 'soccer,' but just for future refernce can you look up what FIFA stands for?? Then come back to me about why it's called football and it's only a minority number that adopted the term 'soccer'

@roylanc19 I don't mind that he was a drug addict.. Look at Gazza, probably the best technical footballer that England have ever had, he was a drug addict. What people are annoyed about is the blatant cheating, divers infuriate the general public but what he did was on a whole different scale. To knowingly decieve the game of football on the biggest stage (the World Cup) is disgraceful.

@dave5socrates OK. As I'm assuming you're one of the many freaking arrogant Europeans who insult Americans (and a few other countries) for using the term "soccer", allow me to embarrass you. Apparently you don't know that the the word was originally made up in England. The abbreviation for the original English football association was ASSOC, and so ENGLISH people created the slang term soccer, making it a completely legitimate term and making you an arrogant, ignorant prick.
