Jimi Hendrix died at the Samarkand Hotel under circumstances which have never been fully explained on 18 September 1970. He had spent the later part of the evening before at a private party and was picked up by his girlfriend Monika Dannemann and driven to her flat at the Samarkand Hotel. She left the house around 10.30 and found him covered in vomit when she arrived back a short while after. According to the estimated time of death he died shortly afterwards. Acording to Eric Burdon, Danneman had called him several hours earlier regarding the state of Hendrix, and already then got the advice to call an ambulance, without doing so. Jimi Hendrix was choked by his vomit, after taking nine Vesperax (sleeping pills).

  • This is sad but the ''Much over 30'' comment (Like it's 'old' [yes i know it prob was back then but in today context no so] it made me laugh). RIP Jimi.

  • Jimi, Janis, Jim, Mama Cass, Kurt, Bruce, and the others, Gone but never forgotten

  • You still shine on Jimi !!!!

  • We miss you Jimi, 40 years later you still inspire us. 'cant wait to meet you in the next world..

  • He was blamed for the public outcry against the war and warned to stop playing protest music. Walla.. out comes "Band of Gypsies". American authoritarians were already pissed about his rendition of the Star blah blah Banner, and now this album. Shit hit the fan. Ms Danneman, was in England, a member of a little club called MI5, and was put on him by Authorities. That's why she was "hesitant" about calling bobbies. They wanted to be certain he was dead. WINE in his LUNGS assurred that.
