This clip gives a short flashback on the Rallye history of the Salzburg Rallye Beetle in the early ´70s as it has been introduced by the Porsche Salzburg(Austria) racing team.
Porsche Salzburg(now Porsche Austria- sole distributor for the very same country)already started using the Beetle for Rallying in the mid 60`s.The racing team also entertained the super vee`s as well as the famous Porsche 917 for Le Mans , which they won.Considering the small budget and the nimble support from the VW factory,
they achieved remarkable results not only in domestic but also in international contests. Probably the most famous one was the overall victory on the Isle of Elba in `73.
The Beetles kept racing under their colors until 1974 when the oil crisis shut down most of the efforts. All vehicles then were sold to privatiers and kept rallying still with noticable results until the early `80s.

  • Muito bom este vídeo. Eu tenho um fusca e sei que não há carro melhor que ele para enfrentar as péssimas estradas aqui no Brasil. Viva o Fusca, o melhor carro já fabricado no mundo.
