I pointed out in a thread on Banjo Hangout that pulling off is the same whether it's done on the string struck by the right hand or on a different string (so-called "alternate string" pulls); what changes is the right hand, not the left. To clarify, I made this short clip, from which it is clear that the left hand doesn't change--the only difference is which string the unseen right hand is striking. Note this is also true for hammering onto right-hand-struck-or-not strings.

  • Like the baby wah-wah effect in the background. Can you get him to do that on command?

  • One of the dangers of having the baby monitor in my office... He was just drifting off for a nap. :-)
