  • Clemson was the dominant program in the ACC in the 1980s

  • Not exactly - Clemson broke the rules and so deservedly got in trouble. But their efforts didn't result in fielding teams that were "bought" as is often claimed. Some asst. coaches and boosters made moves to compensate players and potential recruits -obviously violating NCAA rules - & so Clemson was justifiably punished. But the subjects of the investigation either didn't sign with Clemson, or were already thre (and thus weren't induced to sign by those after-the fact violations).

  • Ahhh yes.....the Era of the Cheaters at dung valley. See the NCAA records for details. Clemson got "good" because they cheated during this time. Not just your run of the mill cheating.....no....Clemson cheated their ASSES OFF during this time. That is Clemsons History. Period.

  • Clemson was starting to dominate the ACC in the early 80's like Florida State in the 90's

  • @bamadawgsc Clemson defeated many of the national powers during the 80s: they beat UGa with Herschel Walker, PSU with Blair Thomas, UWV with major Harris, top ranked FSU, a ranked UNC team with Kelvin Bryant, a ranked & powerful Husker team loaded with AAs and future pros, defeated the Sooners in a bowl game that was 2nd best team of the 80s. No the tigers didn't just beat up on chumps. Many top five ranked teams lost their bid for a national title at the hands of the tigers

  • This was about the Clemson became a National Football Power

  • GO TIGERS!!!! Class of 2011!!!

  • bama? dawg? I smell chicken.

    63-17

  • Clemson was "beast" as you say as long as they were playing Furman, VMI, UVA and the South Carolina School for the Blind.

Their record is plain to see when they had to play real schools.....they had some success when they were cheaters.

  • texas all the way
