These are the last pictures of my first triops. It died one hour later. You can see the eggs quite clearly.

  • did she lay the eggs or didnt she have chance? :(

  • @lulu19280

She did and a few days later several eggs hatched but the little ones did not grow old. After 2 days they were dead.

  • How was the water bad and how do you change it because I might try to get triops

  • @JaysizzoLOGE

The nitrit-level was too high. If you want to put Triops into an aquarium you should run the aquarium for at least two weeks without animals, but with a good working filter system so the "good" bacteria can grow. These bacteria lower the nitrite levels so the water will do no harm to fish or triops. In our case, we didn't wait two weeks before putting the triops in the bigger tank.

  • Is there a rock in there? if there isnt she died because her shell was squeezing her to death!

  • @jklspongehugger201

No, that was not the reason for her death. We assume that it was caused by poor water quality.

  • RIP

  • i had my triops for 90 days

and then my sister poked them with the net

and then the next morning i woke up to find them colorless and dead on the bottom

    stupid sister.

  • did u used the eggs?

  • @Veringer68 you put them from one thank i a other ?

triops lives in pools if the water lowers down wich is the same as putting them out of the tank for a sec they die its a nature instinct they lay eggs so when in nature the pool fills up with water the new egss can hatch that what ive learned so far :-)

  • This is soooo sad with the music

  • @Veringer68 This isn't quite right. If your tank is cycled (has enough "good" bacteria in the filter) then nitrate isn't the problem. Nitrate is what the bacteria turn dangerous ammonia and nitrite (the waste products of aquatic animals) INTO. The only way to remove nitrate is to do periodic water changes. Also, leaving the filter running in a clean empty tank for two weeks does nothing to start the cycle. Nitrifying bacteria need something to feed on, so you must add ammonia to the tank.
