THE MESSY, MESSY S.C.S.C. BLUES
by Jon Moody 2009
I got some friends who like to write songs.
They sit around the whole day long,
Till they think of a rhyme
And scribble down a line or two.
Then they set it to a melody,
The Messy, Messy, S.C.S.C. Blues.
To my buddy David Hershman I dedicate this versh,
Man it wont run overtime one bit.
Its short and to the point; dont beat around the joint.
As brevitys the soul of wit.
Said Polonius, in fact, in Hamlets second act,
To Horatio, Ophelia, Amelia Bedilia.
An edit would hurt a compendium by Goethe
Or the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam.
As a supercilious fart who likes to quote Descartes,
I obfuscate and therefore I am.
But sorry, I digress— as anyone can guess.
Its just the Messy, Messy S.C.S.C. Blues!
Yes, Don, this song has a bridge.
Whats more it even changes key.
Keith Lamont Bachman would really be proud
Of this sophisticated harmony.
I can really learn to focus on a Larry Penman opus.
Im from Youngstown, hes from Mars.
And who could forget a guy like Bob Patetta
Swingin in legato for a dozen bars.
But theyre all good friends of mine, wouldnt trade em anytime.
Its a musical Mulligan stew.
Cos varietys the spice of the Messy, Messy, S.C.S.C. Bloooooze—
I said varietys the spice of the Messy, Messy, S.C.S.C. Blues!
good one!
Thanks Jon!
