Very good video. I was up there in the 70's & recognised many of the places. If you have been back recently, you would see that basically the place hasn't changed all that much -the general layout I mean. But in terms of safety, it is VERY DIFFERENT !!

Good to hear from you. I have had many comments from people who enjoy the cines and even some from people who are in them! Comments come from all over the world. Hard to believe this was 50 years ago. The web was SCI-FI for another 40 years.

Thank you SO SO much. I lived in Port Moresby from 59 - 62 . Went to Ela Beach Primary School. This has brought back so many happy and treasured memories. - like looking into a window to my past. I am about to send it to my two sisters.

Graham Butchart here ... yeah, the spiders were enormous for a small boy. I recall my Father pounding on a huge bird-eating spider with his tennis shoe after it had crawled out from under my bunk on our first night in Moresby. It's body was the size of a tennis ball, it's legs like hairy pipe cleaners ... and then there was the 6ft goana that joined me in the shower block!!
Ah, Great memories of 'Fear and Loathing in Port Moresby'
I was in Moresby 1952 until 1958

@blackusa1 . No It is old software that was free to use.
Pinnacle Studio editing in about 2002. Long out of date.
I dare not say it but you can copy the video and extract the music.
I am banned in Germany for use of Jan Gabareck music! ce

@dwiindrajaya . No ,sorry. It came as "Smartsound "bundled with a Pinnacle editing software DVD .
that came packaged with a a new DVD player. ... Well out of date now. I am sure it is still available to use as it was free unlike some. And I have been
taken to task by Sony for illegal use!!!

Wonderful video. The vilage on stilts must be "Hanuabada" which is visible from the Port Moresby wharf. I think the last picture shows the "Papua Hotel". Nostaligic about POM which has become a very different city .

The last slide does indeed show a hotel.. As far as my parents were concerned, and everyone else, there were two such buildings. And in the great Australian way of naming .
The one at the top of the hill was "The top pub", and the one at the bottom of the hill Was "The bottom pub". . .My parents popped into them when I was deposited for a "Superman" matinee at the cinema nearby!
Glad you liked the cines.
Nostalgia is fine . RegardsChristopher
