Indeed, the broken column says it all. Someone once said that a genius is someone who cannot be harmed by his teacher ... can we add by his fate as well?
It seems cruel ... even capricious to us ... that such a genius was wrapped up in such a cruel fate.
We say, "if only he had lived longer, imagine the music he would have written."
He has written more than enough - some of his music is so transcendent that we can hardly believe that it was written by a mortal ... and perhaps it wasn't.

He left us with such beautiful music. Its too bad he wasn't better appreciated in his short lifetime. I'm sure he would be pleased to know that so many love and appreciate his music today.

@LVB1770 Yes, it was fictional, and the burial place of Mozart is still not certain. Like Robert Johnson the bluesman, his "burial place" is no more than guesswork.
-
But they don't know where his body is buried.
That cam out in "Amadeus"
-
but it was down to money and mozart's family did not have any

He desrves a better grave than this. He was a genius........a gift from God. This is all he gets?!!!!!! Mozart seems underrated! Look at Beethoven's grave! His is rediculously huge. Mozart was way more influential than Beethoven...... I'm sorry Mozart, you deserve better!!!

This "Memorial"Grave was errected by Mozart's widow Constanze.Sadly,as it was errected over 30 years after Mozart's death nobody knew where the mass grave lay,so this is an approximation.
The area of the mass grave/s in the cemetery is about a third of an acre. When I was there the chestnuts(from the trees planted above it)were falling to the ground.I took a few home in the hope that they might contain a small essence of Mozart,he having been buried below.
OMG, this is not real... if anyone had any previous knowledge they would know that he was buried in an unmarked grave. it even shows what happened in the end of Amadeus. they dumped him into a hole with like 10 other bodies.

Seanandmichaelinc, Amadeus was a fictional movie! Mozart is buried somewhere in Vienna's St. Marx cemetery, the exact location is unknown; the current monument and 'grave' are the results of an educated guess. The circumstances of the composer's burial, and the lack of any definite grave, has led to great confusion, including the common belief that Mozart was dumped into a mass grave for paupers. This view stems from a misinterpretation of funerary practices in eighteenth century Vienna.

Seanandmichaelinc, Seanandmichaelinc, Also, I spent a lot of time researching this and was taken to this grave site by a famous local Opera singer who lived in Vienna and her knowledge of this grave site was deep. You should not base history on fictional movies. To quote a line from Amadeus, "Hu, well, there it is!"

I thought that statue was bigger. Where's Beethoven's Grave? Is that statue (MOzart's) the original ever since they built this memorial? How old is it?

It's very small. Beethoven's is in the central cemetary in Vienna and it's much bigger. Not sure how old Mozart's is. When Mozart died hardly anyone remember him or listen to his music anymore. He fell out of fasion just like Beethoven.

How can anyone not be moved by this? It just brings tears to your eyes, knowing that the Lacrimosa was never completed by Mozart and that he died at only 36 years of age.
