I saw him right from his debut to the end - without doubt the greatest of them all - what people need to remember was he was the first celebrity footballer - people jumped on his bandwagon, The press never left him alone and when he did try and get away from things the Daily Mirror went and printed his address - he had to ask people to move their cars so he could get in his own house, He died from Alcoholism - a terminal and incurable disease Miss you George thanks for everything

@MrJimmyboy1972 Nice one

@Rossypossy131277 Is this Ros hollinge?
-
Ah cool, I'm 30 but a big Best fan. Did you see him at the peak of his genius? A lot of film wasn't captured on Match of the Day when he was first starting off, my dad said he was breath-taking and you had to see him live.
-
@Queenwraith i saw him play for northern ireland at hampden park on numerous occassions, i also saw him play for a rangers and celtic select after the ibrox disaster.
-
@MrJimmyboy1972 Where did you see him play? One big regret for me is that I never seen him play but I was too young.
-
@playthatgeetar why dont people realise that george best himself was the illness, he thought he was bigger than football, he thought he was bigger than anything else. i am not judgemental, i am a realist, george best was his own downfall. everyone copes with mental health problems in their own way. george best flaunted his problem on the media continually, for money. we have no access to the media as such, but we dont draw attention to our problems, do we.
-
@playthatgeetar But for what its worth he is still arbuably the most gifted footballers of ALL time, even Pele but his tempermant helped bring about his downfall. He should of been the best but his professional life is an example of being a victim of your own success.
-
@playthatgeetar Your right about Rooney. Bests tempermant got worse until he was uncoachable. Then, almost at once, although he came back for a time, at once it was over. He left with many issues unresolved and It was too big a hole to fill. He became selfdestructive. I think he knew what he was doing to himself but didn't care.The perverbile itch that couldn't be scratched. He drank himself to death.
-
I am not defending him but look at Rooney - too much dosh too soon and very thick = disaster
if georgie was born in brazil,u would have never heard of pele
