This recording of Study # 7 is one of 50 studies written by a composer named Conlon Nancarrow. Nancarrow wrote most of his music for player piano because because period musician were not able to play his them because of there rhythmic complexity. However, musicians today have been arranging his music for solo and large ensembles.
I was asked 3 years ago to play an arrangement that I made of this piece at California Institute for the Arts by Edward Carroll for a special Trumpet Concert that they were holding. Then the next year I made this recording of it for the Cal Arts trumpet CD. I hope you enjoy.

Ed Carroll is awesome. I'm not surprised he had you play this, they fit his musical sensibilities perfectly.

The proper title is "Trumpet solo for trumpet and piano," I think. If someone thinks playing a drum with a week old herring is easy, they should try it. It can be much more difficult than playing a Piano Sonata by Chopin, or a Harpsichord Solo for Washboard, Harmonica and Refrigerator. Let's not judge the music...
