On Saturday, September 12, 2009, Peel Regional Police 11 Division invited the public down to their annual open house. As part of our research into youth issues, MISSISSAUGAWATCH visited and inspected the Young Offenders Jail Cells.

This video shows the MAILE jail cell at Peel 11 Division. It is used for male Young Offenders as well as older males arrested. It is my understanding that if a male Young Offender occupies this cell and an older male needs detention, the Young Offender is then switched over to one of the female jail cells (provied there's no female)

One amusing discovery was a graffiti complaint scratched into the glass. It read "NO TOILET PAPER".... There's also no INTERNET access either. :-)

Either way, the jail cell is spartan, but clean.

Given that City of Mississauga Corporate Security guards frequently arrest youth and minors, it was important to see at least their accomodations once arrested.

Note. Young Offenders are under 18 years of age.

uh, I don't really quite know how to respond to a moron who thinks that the proper solution to no toilet paper in a jail cell is to not be in jail in the first place.

For the record, this is a jail cell in Peel Police headquarters11 Division --they had an open house and we could visit both jail cells.

I suspect there was no toilet paper because the cells weren't occupied. Although I did see a parent have to stop her little girl from attempting to use that particular toilet.

Capital punishment is wrong on so many levels. I appreciate that people want revenge etc, but that makes you no better than the criminal. Prison, with the option of therapy/councelling/correction is the right way to go.

dont let them scare u, jail is NOT a deterent, stand up for urselves do what right, ive done time in nearly every prison in the GTA from the cobourg bucket to maplehurst everywhere in between metro east west, the don ,mimico , all the way to edmonton correctional,dwn to sacramento county prison in cali,

canadian laws r crap!!! people get more time in prison for drugs than murderers n rapists. u can kill someone n b out of prison in a few years adult or young offender.
