Many people have commented on how smooth Scorpion motors run. Well, here is the secret behind that. Every motor can assembly is high-speed spin-balanced on a special machine built specifically for this purpose. The machine is like a miniature version of the machine that tire stores use to spin-balance car tires. It uses a strobe light on one end to make the motor appear to stand still while it is spinning. A flux ring assembly is put into the machine and spun up to high speed, and a set of digital displays shows how much weight needs to be added, and where it needs to be added to balance the motor. The worker then rolls up a small ball of a special slow cure epoxy putty, which has a consistancy like modeling clay, and places it into the motor in the gap between the magnets. The motor is spun up again to see if it is perfectly balanced or not. This process is repeated until the motor is perfectly balanced.
