But what if we live with them in the wild? Huh? Plenty of space. Lots of food. I don't see the problem. >:/

the problem is we cant cure stupid people with big egos thinking they can have and do what they want i hate how those type of people say its there right to keep these big cats as pet

@RedSun875 "Freedom is exchange for security is never a fair trade." Yes, indeed. Now I'm going to go free up those convicted felons in the county jail! Even those well off enough to properly provide for their cats are under private property law, while sanctuaries like BCF are public and more easily regulated. It's much more efficient and cheaper to regulate a few public organizations than many private individuals who may be abusing their exotic, dangerous and often endangered "pets."

@RedSun875 Your "freedom" and your stupid dreams to cage an animal that wasn't meant to be a pet doesn't trump the animal's right to a life that nature intended for them. It's idiots like you that believe their "freedom" trumps the greater welfare of man and animal alike. And guess what, your bastardization of Ben Franklin's quote regarding freedom for security had nothing to do with the ownership of wild animals.
Get off your mommies computer little boy.

@RedSun875 "pursit of happiness"??? "PURSUIT OF DREAMS"????? are you joking? what about the cat's happiness?! do you think they're happy that they're trapped in by a HUMAN??? something that they would consider a meal in the wild? what if the tiger, lion, or whatever happened to be walking around your house as you regularly would and started attacking you like an actual wild animal?? what would happen to your dreams then? If humans can have freedom, why can't big cats?

I would like to own a big cat, however all of the practical and ethical difficulties makes me conclude that I should not. It wouldn't be fair on the creature.

i would have taken you serious, but your grammar and spelling sucks.

these are amazing animals all of the cats for that manner...i watch nat geo and bigcatresucue discovery channel and animal planet all the time constantly..but i absolutley agree that they should not be a pet they are WILD

@RedSun875 yeah its all about your freedom and happyness, why care about animal who doesnt want to be close at some asshole backyard...
i have a PANTHER :D :D which has been with me for 3 years i have a 14 acre back yard which i used 3 acres to make a home for it he has a vet which looks after him he sees him twice a week and has some one who feeds , and grooms him, now can you please tell me why i shouldnt own a big cat ?

@slspearo This all sounds good and well, but what happens to the cat in the future if for example you cannot support him/her any longer, what happens to the animals if it escapes, what happens to the animal if it rips off the groomers arm? There's so many reasons to not own a large wild predator, we have to draw the line somewhere these animals don't belong in backyards in private possession. So many deaths and maulings could have been prevented if it were illegal to own them.

@BigCatRescue Then they find the cat a zoo or a better keeper. It is annoying how agencies want to blanket treat the public like they are children and limit freedoms and persuits of dreams. Let people with the means and wise enough, hace watever animal they want. There is this thing called freedom and the persuit of happyness, or have you forgotten that?
RedSun875 1 month ago
@RedSun875 People can't find a better keeper and zoos won't take in animals that have been bred in backyard breeding schemes. There's never going to be enough money or manpower to regulate where and how these animals are kept so the only way to ensure animals aren't suffering is to ban the private possession of these wild animals.

@BigCatRescue A required proof of stable income and a graduation of big cat training would solve the problem. But to ban private ownership alltogether tramples freedom. Freedom in exchange for security is never a fair trade.

@RedSun875 No it won't. There will never be enough money or manpower to regulate the private ownership of these animals, the only way to really put an end to the abuse, escapes and deaths is to ban the private possession.... we have to draw the line somewhere and tigers should not be living in backyards.
