Few bands define shoegazer music as clearly as Mazzy Star, treating fame as an unfortunate side effect of making the music they like Singer Hope Sandoval even collaborated with My Bloody Valentine's Colm Ó Cíosóig (another shoegazer fav), for her debut solo album, called Bavarian Fruit Bread. Hope's Mazzy Star co-fonder David Roback was a founding member of Rain Parade, which was part of the "Paisley Underground" revival, which played music reminiscent of The Velvet Underground and 1960's psychedelic bands. Hope went on to record with The Jesus and Mary Chain, The Chemical Brothers, and folk legend Burt Jansch and dance-meisters Massive Attack. Besides Fade Into You, Mazzy Star had another hit single, called Flowers In December, which appeared on the movie Wicker Park soundtrack in 2004.
